Job descriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our board of trustees as a Trustee with expertise in governance, policy and compliance.

Operating in Lower Sunbury, CAMEO covers the Spelthorne and surrounding areas. CAMEO is a friendly and caring charity run by a team of enthusiastic fun-loving people who want to enhance the lives of those living with dementia, and their families.We provide stimulating activities in a safe and engaging environment, connecting and caring for people as individuals. We reduce social isolation and improve the wellbeing of families so people can live where they want to, for as long as they can. We also provide respite opportunities for primary carers to take care of their own mental and physical health.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications and Experience Substantial experience working within governance, policy and compliance, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the care sectors. Previous experience serving on a board of trustees or similar governance body is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of dementia care and/or experience working with individuals living with dementia and their families would be advantageous but not essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. A commitment to the values and mission of the charity, with a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of people affected by dementia. Availability to attend regular trustee meetings and engage actively in the work of the board.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities Strategic Guidance Provide expertise and strategic insight to help shape the long-term vision and objectives of the charity. Governance Ensure that the charity operates within its legal and regulatory framework, and in line with best practices in governance. Policy Development Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures, particularly those related to social services, health authority, and local authority interactions. Advocacy and Networking Represent the charity in relevant forums and networks, advocating for the needs of individuals living with dementia and promoting awareness of our services. Financial Oversight Work collaboratively with fellow trustees and senior management to ensure the financial sustainability of the charity, including budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management. Evaluation and Impact Assessment Participate in the evaluation of the charity’s programs and services, assessing their effectiveness and impact on service users. Compliance Ensure that the charity complies with all relevant legislation, regulations, and funding requirements, particularly those pertaining to social services and healthcare provision.
