Job description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting for Trainee Teaching Assistants to join a supportive and inclusive SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) school in Belle Vale, Liverpool. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity ideal for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in education. For the right candidates, there is strong potential for development and progression into permanent roles.

The School:
• A nurturing and specialist SEND school based in Belle Vale, catering to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils
• Supports children with a range of additional needs including autism, communication difficulties, global developmental delay, and social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Provides a highly inclusive and caring environment, with a strong focus on pupil wellbeing, early intervention, and personalised learning

The Role:
• Full-time Trainee Teaching Assistant position working with EYFS and KS1 pupils
• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups to help them engage in learning and daily routines
• Assist the class teacher and experienced support staff with structured play, sensory activities, communication support, and the implementation of individual support plans
• No prior school experience is required – full training will be provided before starting your placement

The Ideal Candidate Will:
• Have experience or interest in working with children in early years, nursery, childcare, SEN, care work, social care, youth work, or related settings
• Be able to provide references covering the last five years of employment or education
• Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service, if not already done so
