Key Duties

Pace Center for Girls seeks a dedicated Reading Teacher to support our mission of transforming the lives of girls through education and counseling. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and deliver standards-based lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of individual learners across multiple grade levels.

  • Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessments, adjusting instruction to support academic growth.

  • Foster a safe, nurturing, trauma-informed classroom environment that emphasizes strengths and resilience.

  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain engagement, respect, and adherence to policies.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support academic advising, college and career readiness, and post-secondary planning.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, gradebooks, and progress monitoring documentation in accordance with state requirements.

  • Participate in occasional after-hours events such as family nights and community outreach activities.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

  • Active Florida Statement of Eligibility, Temporary, or Professional Teaching Certificate.

  • Strong knowledge of reading instruction for grades 6-12, grounded in the science of reading principles.

  • Ability to manage multiple grade levels and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.

  • Preferred: Experience teaching in trauma-informed settings, an education degree, and a valid Florida driver’s license.

  • Must be able to supervise students effectively and participate in all required trainings and safety drills.
