• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 24/7 operations

• Residency Requirement: Must reside within the FKEC service territory

Key Duties

The System Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling FKEC’s electrical system to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous service for members. Core responsibilities include:

• Overseeing system status through SCADA and correcting or reporting irregularities that could affect service reliability

• Operating substations, transmission lines, interconnection points, and distribution automation equipment as required

• Exercising authority during emergencies, including taking real-time actions to maintain system stability and compliance with reliability standards

• Reviewing, issuing, and executing switching orders to ensure safe conditions for field crews

• Receiving and dispatching trouble calls and coordinating responses during outages or emergencies

• Monitoring weather conditions and alarms at remote facilities, escalating issues when necessary

• Maintaining accurate reports, logs, and documentation related to system operations

• Using utility software to support member inquiries and assist with service-related requests

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

• Minimum of two years’ experience in system dispatching, line operations, or a related role

• Background in computer operations and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

• Knowledge of electricity principles related to generation, transmission, and distribution

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics

• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams and external stakeholders

• Must hold and maintain NERC System Operator TO certification

• Valid Florida Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)

• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and extended hours during emergencies
