Key Duties

RiverCrest Power Holdings, LLC, a BioUrja Group company, is seeking a Sr. Power Trader to join its Houston team. This role focuses on analyzing congestion risk within Nodal power markets and leveraging trading opportunities.

The Sr. Power Trader will:

• Conduct fundamental analysis of congestion risk and power flow in Nodal markets.
• Build and manage FTR/Virtual portfolios to optimize market opportunities.
• Quantify portfolio risk and develop pricing models.
• Run and interpret power flow simulations using tools such as Dayzer, UPLAN, and PowerWorld.
• Analyze generation dispatch curves, transmission parameters, and contingency scenarios.
• Stay current with regulatory updates and participate in industry-related meetings.
• Collaborate with trading and analytical teams to execute data-driven trading strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, Business, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in power flow analysis with a commercially-driven focus.
• Demonstrated success managing congestion risk in Nodal markets.
• Strong analytical skills with a risk-taking mindset and commercial awareness.
• Entrepreneurial, able to work under pressure, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Deep understanding of power flow risk drivers, market fundamentals, and forecasting techniques.
• Experience with power modeling tools and proprietary research methods preferred.
