Job description

Our client, a prestigious Tier 1 supplier within the automotive manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineer to enhance their operations at their facility in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This pivotal role involves optimising manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of quality for automotive components. You will be responsible for process improvement initiatives, troubleshooting production issues, implementing new technologies, and leading projects to enhance output and reduce waste. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of automotive production environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage production engineering activities to optimise manufacturing efficiency and product quality. Develop, implement, and maintain robust manufacturing processes and procedures. Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Implement lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen). Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring minimal downtime. Oversee the implementation of new equipment and technologies on the production line. Develop and manage process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure adherence to automotive quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949). Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and production staff. Manage engineering projects from conception through to implementation. Conduct process capability studies and participate in FMEAs. Liaise with design, R&D, and supply chain departments to ensure seamless product introduction and ongoing production support.
