The Role & Responsibilities
The Senior Management Accountant will be responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and offering insightful analysis to guide business decisions. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare and review management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for internal reporting.

Analyse financial results to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational improvement.

Support senior management by providing actionable insights derived from financial data.
Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, collaborating with departmental managers.

Monitor financial performance against budget, highlighting key variances and providing explanations.

Contribute to financial planning initiatives that align with company strategy and growth objectives.
Compliance & Governance

Ensure all accounting activities comply with UK GAAP and internal financial policies.

Maintain accurate and complete records of all financial transactions.

Support audits by preparing schedules and documentation, liaising with auditors as required.
Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes and improve efficiency.

Implement best practices for reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls.

Act as a mentor for junior finance staff, providing guidance and support to develop team capability.
Stakeholder Communication

Collaborate with internal departments to support financial decision-making and operational planning.

Present complex financial information in a clear, concise manner to non-finance colleagues.

Work closely with the finance team to ensure alignment of financial objectives across the business.
Qualifications & Experience

Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred.

Experience: Proven experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting within a medium to large organization.

Skills: Strong Excel and accounting software proficiency, with advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge: Understanding of UK accounting standards, internal controls, and compliance requirements.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and team collaboration skills.
