• Compensation: $32.18 per hour, funded by the University of Florida/Lastinger Center through the Florida Tutoring Advantage program

Key Duties

The Reading Teacher/Tutor provides targeted small-group instruction to students in need of literacy support. This position plays an important role in addressing learning gaps, improving reading proficiency, and ensuring students are on track for academic success.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering small-group and individualized reading instruction and interventions.

• Assessing student progress and adapting strategies to meet varied learning needs.

• Collaborating with teachers, staff, and administrators to align literacy support with classroom instruction.

• Maintaining accurate student progress records and providing updates as needed.

• Creating a supportive, positive learning environment that fosters confidence and growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

• Florida teacher certification in the appropriate area, or willingness to work toward certification.

• Ability to provide professional references upon request.

• Strong communication and instructional skills to support student literacy development.

• In some cases, specific service areas may require advanced degrees or different qualifications.

Pay & Benefits

• Hourly pay of $32.18.

• Flexible part-time schedule (24 hours per week).
