About Bright Horizons Family Solutions

Bright Horizons is a globally recognised provider of high-quality early childhood education and care. With nurseries across the UK, including Dartford, we are known for creating nurturing, stimulating environments where children flourish. Our Dartford location offers a warm, inclusive nursery environment with strong leadership and supportive staff who care deeply about high-quality early years practice.

The Role & Responsibilities

As part of our Bank Staff team, you will work across the nursery to support staffing needs, stepping into different rooms as required. Your role will help maintain continuity of care, support routines, and ensure every child experiences a rich and engaging day—even when regular staff are absent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Flexible Room Cover
Step into baby, toddler, or preschool rooms when needed, providing safe, nurturing, age-appropriate care.

  • Support Learning and Play
Engage children in purposeful play, circle time, outdoor learning, and early education activities aligned with the EYFS.

  • Build Relationships
Interact with children, parents, and staff warmly and professionally, helping each child feel valued and secure.

  • Routine Care
Support daily routines such as snack times, sleep supervision, nappy changes, and transitions throughout the day.

  • Hygiene and Safety
Follow health, safety and safeguarding procedures, maintain clean environments, and ensure high childcare standards.

  • Record Keeping
Contribute to observations or notes on children’s development when required, sharing information with room leads or practitioners.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered, you will need:

  • Minimum Level 2 in Early Years (or equivalent)
Level 3 qualified practitioners are also encouraged to apply.

  • Experience working with young children
This may be gained through a previous nursery role, apprenticeship, or placement.

  • Knowledge of EYFS
Understanding how to apply the Early Years Foundation Stage to children’s daily activities and assessments.

  • Safeguarding Awareness
Confidence following child protection procedures and a willingness to undertake regular safeguarding training.

  • Flexibility & Professionalism
Ability to adapt to different nursery rooms, follow routines, and work well with multiple teams.

  • Enhanced DBS Check
Required or willingness to undergo one (provided by Bright Horizons).

Duties & Benefits

Core Duties

  • Provide high-quality care to children across various age groups.

  • Assist with planning and delivering engaging activities linked to EYFS.

  • Maintain daily routines and ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.

  • Support permanent staff and contribute to a consistent nursery environment.

Benefits

  • Hourly Pay (£24,000–£25,000 pro rata, depending on qualification and experience)
Highly competitive rate reflecting the professional responsibility of qualified early years staff.

  • Flexible Working
Choose shifts that suit your schedule, ideal for work-life balance or alongside study/other commitments.

  • Training and Development
Access to Bright Horizons’ award-winning training platform and potential pathways to advance into permanent roles.

  • Supportive Teams
Work in warm, welcoming nursery settings with experienced staff who value collaboration and professionalism.

  • Childcare Discounts
Eligibility for discounted childcare (subject to role and hours).

What We’re Looking For

  • Child-centred and passionate about early education.

  • Confident and adaptable; happy to work in different rooms as needed.
