Key DutiesAs a Public Safety Technician 2, you will perform technical and semi-skilled tasks that support law enforcement activities in the Fairbanks area. Responsibilities include assisting with Search and Rescue operations, processing and handling evidence, managing property and equipment, supporting surveillance and training operations, and performing maintenance tasks. You may also be involved in transporting vehicles and equipment, monitoring safety and security of property, and assisting detachment outposts with special projects. Work assignments can vary daily depending on the department’s operational needs.
RequirementsTo qualify, candidates must:

Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.

Meet Alaska residency requirements.

Hold a valid Alaska driver’s license.

Have six months of relevant experience in areas such as patrol and surveillance, wildlife management, commercial fishing or guiding, military outdoor operations, or semi-skilled aircraft support work.

Be able to lift and carry items up to 70 pounds over uneven surfaces.

Operate computers, email, and Microsoft Office tools.

Successfully pass a physical exam and a background investigation, including a fingerprint-based criminal history check.
Applicants with misdemeanor convictions of domestic violence are not eligible. This position may require working in remote locations with temporary housing arrangements.
