Key Duties

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking dedicated Public Health Assistants to support school health initiatives. Working under the Bureau of School Health, you will assist physicians in conducting physical exams, manage and update student medical records, and ensure proper documentation of mandated health forms. Additional duties include transmitting medical information from schools, participating in emergency preparedness activities, and maintaining organized records. This role contributes directly to the health, safety, and well-being of children across New York City schools.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of the 11th grade with relevant health-related or clerical experience may also qualify.
  • Experience performing clerical or health-related duties preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of NYC Department of Health and Department of Education personnel policies is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a school health environment.
  • Must meet NYC residency requirements within 90 days of appointment (exceptions apply for some current city employees).
Pay & Benefits
