The Role & Responsibilities
As a Practice Accountant, you will be responsible for managing client accounts, delivering accurate financial reporting, and assisting with accounting compliance tasks. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and internal teams.
Core Responsibilities
Client Account Management

Oversee a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management accounts.

Liaise with clients to understand their business needs, provide accounting advice, and address queries professionally.
Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts in line with relevant accounting standards.

Support audit and compliance activities by providing detailed documentation and reconciliations as required.
Tax and Compliance Support

Assist in the preparation of tax returns, VAT submissions, and other statutory compliance documents.

Ensure clients meet all regulatory deadlines and requirements efficiently.
Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting procedures for clients and internal processes.

Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the practice.
Collaboration and Team Support

Work closely with senior accountants and managers to deliver high-quality services.

Support colleagues by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior team members, and fostering a collaborative environment.
Qualifications & Experience

A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Proven experience in a practice accounting environment is advantageous.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Excellent organisational and time-management skills, capable of handling multiple client accounts.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective client interaction.
