Key Duties

As a Second in Command (SIC) Pilot, you will play a critical role in supporting the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) to ensure safe and efficient flight operations. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with pre-flight preparations, reviewing flight plans, and conducting inspections of the cockpit and aircraft.

• Monitoring aircraft systems, navigation, and in-flight communications, following PIC guidance.

• Adhering to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and company operating procedures.

• Maintaining accurate flight logs, maintenance records, and documentation.

• Supporting Crew Resource Management (CRM) by fostering effective communication with the PIC, air traffic control, and ground personnel.

• Participating in continuing education, recurrent training, and simulator exercises to remain proficient.

• Providing exceptional customer service to passengers and ensuring a safe, professional in-flight environment.

This rotational position demands flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to operate in diverse Alaskan environments, including remote locations accessible by small aircraft, snow machines, boats, or ATVs.

Requirements

• Commercial Pilot Certificate with single-engine land and instrument rating; turbo-prop experience preferred.

• Valid second-class medical certificate and current driver’s license.

• Ability to perform physical tasks required for pre-flight inspections and emergency procedures; good vision including color perception.

• Strong technical knowledge of aircraft systems, navigation, and emergency procedures.

• Effective decision-making, situational awareness, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and professionalism.

• Compliance with NANA’s operational procedures and FAA Part 135.293 flight check.
