Key Duties

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) at Mount Sinai Brooklyn plays a vital role in supporting patient-focused care within specialty service areas. This position works closely with registered nurses and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, compassionate care. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, mobility, and comfort needs.
  • Collecting specimens, performing procedures, and documenting vital signs or other health-related data.
  • Helping with admission and orientation of patients, including explaining unit rules and providing room guidance.
  • Supporting nursing care plans and participating in therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitoring patient progress, coordinating care, and ensuring a safe, clean environment.
  • Participating in unit programs such as ambulation or shower assistance and facilitating patient engagement in care routines.
  • Collaborating effectively with staff and communicating professionally with patients and families.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years of PCA/CNA experience preferred.
  • Skills in medical assisting, phlebotomy, finger sticks, and EKGs are advantageous.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and professional conduct skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple patient needs, work collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
Pay & Benefits
