Wage Benefits:

In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
$3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
$2.75 per hour for evenings

Hidden Valley Ski Resort is located in Cypress Hills Provincial Park, (also known as Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park). The Park spans the Southeast corner of Alberta and the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan. The unique landscape of the area contrasts the surrounding prairie landscapes, making it an exciting destination for winter recreation opportunities.

The Ski Resort is located on the Alberta side of the park, 10 minutes from the town site of Elkwater, AB and 40 minutes from Medicine Hat, AB.

Role Responsibilities

The Hidden Valley Ski Resort in the South Region of the Alberta Parks system is looking for Park Caretakers for the 2025 – 2026 ski and snowboard season.

Park Caretaker duties include, but are not limited to:

Cleaning of facilities at Hidden Valley Ski Resort, including the main lodge and the rental building; occasionally might be required to assist in cleaning of other buildings within the park.
Safe operation of cleaning appliances, use of chemical cleaners, lifting and carrying, while adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) practices and procedures.
Daily collection of garbage and recycling.
Interacting with the public in a professional manner and maintaining a positive visitor experience.
Assisting in other departments as needed.
This position primarily works indoors.

Qualifications

Required:
Some high school education (high school diploma preferred) plus 6 months of related experience (cleaning/custodial).
Valid Standard First Aid + CPR Level C/AED.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract.

Equivalences will be considered: one year experience for one year of education OR one year of education for one year of experience.

Additional Assets to be successful in this role:
WHMIS training.
Good judgment and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically fit as this is a physically demanding position.
Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) practices, procedures and responsibilities.
Knowledge of Hidden Valley Ski Resort facilities and services.

Notes

Terms of employment:

Shifts are 7.25 hours a day, up to 36.25 hours a week.
Candidates must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, varying start dates from December 1, 2025, until March 31, 2026, pending end of ski season and operational needs.
Multiple positions are available.
Various low cost accommodations are available for rent in Elkwater.
There is no public transportation to the Ski Resort, You must have reliable transportation to and from work. The Ski Resort is located about 10 min from Elkwater and about 40 min from Medicine Hat.

Any costs associated with obtaining required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
