Job description

Overview
We are seeking several skilled Painters & Decorators to join our team on a self employed basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail and a passion for transforming spaces through colour and design.

This role involves working on various projects, both residential and commercial, ensuring high-quality finishes and customer satisfaction. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint and wallpaper, and maintaining a clean and organised work environment.

We are looking for individuals that want to work on piecework – work that is paid at a fixed rate based on the amount done rather than the time it takes to do the job.

Responsibilities
• Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, and filling holes to ensure a smooth finish.
• Apply paint, varnish, or wallpaper using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
• Mix paints and other materials to achieve desired colours and textures.
• Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
• Clean up after each job, leaving the site tidy and presentable.
• Keep accurate records of materials used and time spent on projects.

Requirements
• Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail with a creative flair.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials when necessary.
• A valid driving licence is essential as you will have to manage your own assigned projects, materials, etc.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to painting and decorating is advantageous.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in painting and decorating are desirable but not mandatory.
