What’s the Role?
As the News Video Lead, you will create and edit high-quality news videos across our platform, social channels, and YouTube, ensuring they align with our audience growth and revenue objectives. Your work will span a wide range of content, including news, sports, TV, showbiz, and consumer topics. You’ll be responsible for producing engaging, platform-optimized videos that meet legal standards. Additionally, you will lead the video editing team, providing mentorship and guidance to shape and elevate the team’s output.

• Platform Strategy: Decide where videos are best served—YouTube, the website, or social media—to maximize reach.
• Quality Control: Lead video reviews, offering constructive feedback to junior editors and improving overall output.
• Breaking News & Trends: Work with journalists to turn breaking news and trending topics into compelling video content.
• Data-Driven Optimization: Use insights and analytics to refine content for higher engagement, watch time, and shares.
• SEO & Metadata Management: Ensure videos are search-optimized and aligned with platform algorithms.
• Legal & Compliance: Maintain a strong understanding of media law, ensuring all videos adhere to copyright and legal guidelines.
• Social Video Expertise: Optimize video storytelling across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to expand audience reach.
Who You Are
• Experienced Video Editor: A senior-level video editor (with at least five years in a senior position) with a strong background in editing digital news videos.
• Social Video Expert: Extensive knowledge of YouTube and other social platforms, including best practices for engagement.
• News & Sports Savvy: Strong editorial judgment and understanding of news, sports, and entertainment journalism.
• Legally Aware: Comfortable working with legal guidelines, copyright, and fair use policies.
• Data-Driven Thinker: Able to analyze performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Eager to mentor junior team members and work collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom.
