Key Duties

The Medical Insurance Customer Service Advisor serves as a primary contact for patients regarding billing and financial assistance. This role requires proactive communication, problem-solving, and accurate record management to ensure patients understand billing procedures and financial programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Contacting new patients to explain billing processes and updates.

  • Proactively informing patients of meaningful billing policy changes.

  • Managing and administering the Financial Assistance Program (FAP) and assisting patients with statements, insurance updates, and charges.

  • Responding promptly to inbound patient billing inquiries, resolving concerns, and escalating complex issues when necessary.

  • Maintaining accurate patient records and updating the database with relevant information.

  • Collaborating with team members to share knowledge and support a positive work environment.

  • Upholding patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality in all interactions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.

  • Experience in customer service, collections, verification, or data analysis preferred.

  • Strong verbal and listening communication skills.

  • Ability to solve problems independently and exercise sound judgment.

  • Detail-oriented with basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

  • Quick learner of company-specific platforms (e.g., Lynx, CPR+).

  • Professional and courteous phone etiquette.
