Key Duties

The Meat Wrapper plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction in the meat and deli department. Core responsibilities include:

• Wrapping, weighing, and price-marking meat and deli products according to department standards.

• Stocking and rotating products to ensure freshness and proper inventory management.

• Maintaining department cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment functionality in compliance with health regulations.

• Monitoring refrigeration and storage areas, reporting temperature irregularities, and performing minor maintenance as needed.

• Handling damaged or spoiled merchandise and ensuring accurate recordkeeping for inventory, markups, markdowns, and spoilage.

• Supporting merchandising by keeping displays organized, attractive, and properly stocked.

• Providing excellent customer service and responding promptly to inquiries or requests.

• Complying with safety procedures, company policies, and participating in loss prevention efforts.

Requirements

• High school education preferred but not required; completion of training or apprenticeship programs considered.

• Knowledge of meat cuts, handling, and preparation methods is beneficial.

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and follow detailed instructions for packaging and pricing.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Physical capability to lift up to 55 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in refrigerated or freezer environments.

• Ability to operate equipment safely and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
