Key Duties

As an Insurance Verification Representative, you will ensure patients are financially cleared for appointments by verifying insurance coverage and benefits. Responsibilities include:

• Completing insurance verification and documenting eligibility, benefits, and co-pays in the system before patient visits.

• Communicating with health plans, primary care offices, and patients to obtain pre-authorizations or referrals as required.

• Managing and updating patient insurance information accurately in UChart, including guarantor details, policy numbers, and plan information.

• Educating patients and UHealth staff on insurance processes and resolving coverage issues.

• Participating in departmental process improvement initiatives and maintaining quality standards in all work.

• Supporting patient satisfaction by providing timely, accurate information and assisting with complex insurance questions.

Requirements

Candidates should possess:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications a plus.

• Minimum 1 year of experience in insurance verification (3 years preferred for senior-level roles).

• Proficiency in computer applications; EPIC system experience is advantageous.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, providers, and colleagues.

• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.

• Knowledge of insurance policies, pre-authorization, and referral requirements; bilingual skills are a plus.
