Key Duties

As an Infant-Toddler Teacher, you will be a primary caregiver, providing a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for children from birth to age three. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote growth in language, literacy, cognition, social-emotional, and physical development.

  • Create a caring and inclusive classroom environment that encourages play, exploration, and learning.

  • Support healthy routines, conduct daily wellness checks, and ensure proper nutrition and hygiene practices.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, including safety, health, and developmental standards.

  • Build positive relationships with families through open communication, progress updates, conferences, and home visits when needed.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent support for children and families, while participating in training, meetings, and professional development.

  • Encourage family involvement in educational activities and classroom experiences.


Requirements

  • Education: Varies by level; minimum of High School Diploma/GED with Infant Toddler CDA or FCCPC. Advanced roles may require associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in early childhood education or related fields.

  • Certifications: Must complete required Department of Children and Families (DCF) training, First Aid/CPR, TB screening, and food handler certification.

  • Skills: Ability to foster positive teacher-child interactions, implement curriculum, and maintain classroom discipline. Strong communication skills, organizational ability, and respect for confidentiality are required.

  • Other: Must meet physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
