Key Duties

As an HVAC Mechanic II at Lumen, you will maintain and repair commercial HVAC systems across multiple facilities in your region. Core responsibilities include:

• Installing, monitoring, and repairing HVAC systems such as CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, DX split systems, pumps, VFDs, and wall-mounted units.

• Performing preventive maintenance including coil cleaning, filter replacement, belt adjustments, lubrication, and operational testing.

• Responding to emergency calls, troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring energy-efficient operation.

• Operating building management systems to optimize HVAC performance.

• Collaborating with engineers, contractors, and internal customers to maintain peak system efficiency and identify equipment end-of-life.

• Documenting work activities, maintenance history, and service records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.

• Participating in commissioning and testing for new or modified equipment, and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience as an HVAC Technician or in a similar role; 5+ years preferred.

• EPA 608 certification or universal refrigerant certification.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; willingness to travel locally with occasional overnight trips.

• Preferred: experience with commercial HVAC, familiarity with Vertiv/Liebert equipment, and technical/trade school training in HVAC/R.
