The Role & Responsibilities

As the Head of Inclusion / SEN Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping the inclusive learning environment of the school. Your responsibility is not only to oversee the SEN provision but also to embed inclusion into the culture of the institution.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and Lead Inclusion Policies
    Design, implement, and monitor inclusion strategies that reflect best international practices while meeting the needs of diverse learners within the Al Ain Juniors community.

  • Support SEN Learners
    Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of students with special educational needs. This involves close collaboration with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure every child receives appropriate interventions.

  • Teacher Training and Guidance
    Mentor and coach classroom teachers on inclusive pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and classroom adaptations. Facilitate workshops and continuous professional development in SEN best practices.

  • Parent and Community Engagement
    Build strong partnerships with families by keeping them informed, engaged, and involved in their child’s learning journey. Liaise with community organizations and educational authorities when necessary.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation
    Track progress of students with SEN, prepare detailed reports, and ensure compliance with KHDA/ADEC standards for inclusion. Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance learning outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Psychology, or a closely related field. This ensures a deep understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of SEN.

  • Professional Certification: Additional qualifications in SEN coordination, child psychology, or behavior management are strongly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in inclusion or SEN, with at least 2 years in a leadership or coordination role.

  • Knowledge of Curriculum: Strong familiarity with British Curriculum (IGCSE/AS/A Levels) and Indian Curriculum adaptations for SEN learners.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent English proficiency, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents. Arabic knowledge would be a plus but is not mandatory.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in international schools within the UAE or GCC region.

  • Proven ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and innovative teaching resources.
