Key Duties

The State of Colorado is seeking a dedicated Grounds and Nursery I professional to maintain and enhance the appearance of college facilities and grounds. This role focuses on performing a variety of groundskeeping and nursery tasks, including:

  • Mowing, raking, trimming, planting, and transplanting flowers, shrubs, and small trees.
  • Applying pesticides, fertilizers, and other treatments for pest, weed, and disease control.
  • Maintaining and repairing irrigation and sprinkler systems, including digging trenches as needed.
  • Performing minor maintenance on grounds equipment and operating machinery such as tractors, mowers, edgers, and lifts.
  • Removing ice and snow from sidewalks, parking areas, and grounds.
  • Assisting with facility maintenance, furniture relocation, and other duties to support the college campus.
  • Delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Minimum of one year of experience in grounds care or landscaping. Part-time experience will be prorated.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and perform frequent physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Must follow verbal and written instructions, including interpreting policies, guidelines, and manuals.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and during adverse weather conditions.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle record review.
