Job description

Geography Teaching job in Oman at a British International School in Muscat.

The Secondary Section comprises of students from Grade 7 to Grade 12. There students are taught by subject specialists.

Emphasis is placed in Key Stage 3 on giving students the widest possible curriculum so that they are exposed to as many areas as possible. Thus, in the Creative arts for example, students experience music, drama and art and under the banner of General Science students are exposed to Biology, Chemistry and Physics whilst in other specialisms, students will be taught French, History, Geography, Mathematics, English and for Arabic students Religion and Arabic. In this way students are in a position and able to make an informed choice when choosing their Grade 9 options at the end of Grade 8.

In Grade 9 and 10 (Key Stage 4) students study Mathematics, English, Arabic, and Religion (for Muslims) and P.E. which are all compulsory. Apart from this students then are free to choose their options. This is where with the student with teacher and parental consultation can start to explore the possible career pathways. In as much that if your son or daughter might favour the Science/Math route they could typically choose the options of Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics or if they have more an artistic or linguistic bent then they would be best advised to explore other pathways which would be reflected in their option choices.
