Job descriptionSince it was first built in 1960s Milton Keynes has uniquely placed water management at the forefront of its design. A series of balancing lakes and linear parks throughout the city help control water and ensure its management sustainably. We’re hiring a Flood Resilience and Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) Officer to play a vital role in ensuring flood risk is managed for the residents and businesses of Milton Keynes. You’ll do this by providing responses to planning applications undertaking project work as well as enforcement action where required. We particularly welcome applicants with planning background, GIS and data management skills, knowledge of undertaking section 19 flood investigations, skills in land drainage investigation and enforcement and community flood resilience and engagement skill. The role is based primarily at our city centre offices, but often travel will be required across the city. An in-depth training induction programme will be provided for the successful candidate. This role is may suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day in the office and site visits when required.Interviews for this role will be held on 9 and 11 September.Milton Keynes City Council is a modern and friendly place to work.
