Key Duties

Dallas College is seeking an English Adjunct to deliver high-quality instruction in assigned courses while providing academic support to students. This role requires maintaining office hours for consultation and fostering a learning environment that addresses diverse student needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and providing a comprehensive course syllabus to students.

  • Utilizing innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning and engagement.

  • Advising students on academic progress, registration, and course selections.

  • Maintaining accurate course records and evaluating student performance.

  • Participating in curriculum development, recommending instructional materials, and supporting departmental initiatives.

  • Engaging with colleagues collaboratively to achieve shared academic goals.

  • Incorporating technology to facilitate instruction, maintain records, and communicate effectively.

  • Representing Dallas College in the community and supporting college-wide initiatives, including committees and professional development.

Requirements
  • Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate credit hours in English for credit courses; for workforce education, a combination of academic preparation and three years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher for developmental English courses with demonstrated competency.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations and strong communication skills.

  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.

  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred.

  • Successful completion of a criminal background check; some positions may require fingerprinting.
