Key Duties

The Castle Hill YMCA is seeking a dedicated Education Specialist to provide focused academic support in math and literacy for children in grades K–8. In this role, you will:

• Deliver individualized and group tutoring to help students achieve mastery in core subjects.
• Assist children with homework, remote learning, and study skills to improve comprehension and retention.
• Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that promotes academic growth and self-confidence.
• Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and providing feedback to students, parents, and staff.
• Collaborate with Afterschool Counselors, teachers, and other staff to support each participant’s overall development.
• Implement curriculum and lesson plans that foster academic skills, SEL development, and positive learning attitudes.
• Serve as a role model, encouraging motivation, participation, and an inclusive environment that respects diversity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s and teaching credentials preferred).
• Minimum of two years of experience working with youth in academic settings; public school experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Common Core standards and age-appropriate math and literacy curricula.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Google Classroom, Zoom, or other online platforms preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
