Key Duties
As a Designer, Systems, you will:

Develop design concepts, technical analyses, and detailed design documentation for subway and surface systems.

Prepare drawings, material lists, estimates, specifications, and schedules for installation, rehabilitation, and emergency projects.

Oversee design work by contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure compliance with TTC standards.

Conduct feasibility studies, system evaluations, and testing of new or existing components.

Investigate and troubleshoot operational problems, recommending design changes or alternative solutions.

Assist in preparing budgets, cost estimates, procurement documents, and evaluating tenders.

Provide design review feedback, technical reports, and project recommendations.

Support field staff with technical expertise, including during emergency situations.

Conduct audits to verify design quality, safety, and compliance.
Requirements
-
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering/Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification with OACETT is considered an asset.

Strong knowledge of system design principles, standards, and practices.

Experience working in the rail industry, particularly with vehicle system integration.

Understanding of transit system regulations, safety standards, and risk management practices.

Proficiency in MS Office and design-related software applications.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to manage complex projects and provide expert technical counsel.

Must successfully obtain Subway Rulebook Certification.
