The Sheriffs Branch is dedicated to promoting safe and resilient communities, performing a wide range of activities in collaboration with other law enforcement and policing partners in Alberta. In addition to the office of the Chief, there are five directorates within the Branch: Court Security Services (CSS), Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services (FWES), Protection, Communication and Investigative Services (PCIS), Operational Support Services (OSS) and Sheriff Highway Patrol Services (SHPS).

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Sergeant, Digital Records Management, the Data Quality Analyst (Analyst) works within the Alberta Public Safety Application (APSA) suite of applications, which include the Sheriffs Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS). The Analyst ensures that information entered into the APSA system is accurate, timely, consistent with business practices, and that the data is maintained, stored, and disposed according to appropriate policies and procedures. The Analyst provides user training and feedback and is the subject matter expert APSA data quality.
The Analyst is instrumental in the development of data quality guidelines and standards for the entire Sheriffs Branch, and provides input to the continuing development and improvement of applications within APSA. They will develop reports and key performance indicators to assess the overall state of data quality within APSA, and must continually scan the environment for new approaches, technologies, and solutions to stay current in reporting solutions and best practices. The Analyst should anticipate emerging data quality requirements within the Alberta Sheriffs, and proactively seek solutions to support new policy initiatives and address emergent issues.
As a member of Information Management Unit, major responsibilities of the position include:
• Developing in-depth knowledge of the APSA suite of applications and provide subject matter expertise to support operations, business planning, and other initiatives.
• Reviewing occurrences, entities, locations, e-tickets, events, and calls to ensure they meet data quality standards.
• Developing reports and key performance indicators to proactively monitor the systems for data quality issues.
• Maintaining the APSA system through routine administrative tasks relating to user add/change/remove, unit add/change/remove, access control lists, and role assignments.
• Promoting end user self-sufficiency in data quality, especially through providing training and the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures.

In situations where the information does not line up, the Analyst will need to resolve the issue to the best of the ability by locating the required information.
• Drive for Results – The Analyst works with minimal supervision and is expected to maintain the necessary outcome of work. The Analyst will teach and guide users on the correct usage of the systems.
• Develop Networks – The Analyst will maintain good relations internally and externally with other agencies to maintain information is held at the highest and most accurate standard.
• Systems Thinking – The decisions the Analyst makes have implications over a very long time-span, most law enforcement records are held for periods up to 25 years. The management and best practices of the data must reflect that timeline and anticipate future changes and challenges.
Qualifications
University degree in related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
The following will be considered an assets:
• Working with a Records Management System within a law enforcement environment
• Knowledge and experience working with JOIN (Justice Online Information System) and ROADS (Registries Online Access Delivery System)
• An excellent understanding of the Office suite (Word, Excel, etc)
• An understanding of relational databases

This a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
Please note that there will be multiple stages of the assessment process.
An enhanced security clearance is required. Additional levels of clearance may be necessary depending on the assignment.
