As a Civil Engineer with the Department of Defense, you will provide technical and professional support for infrastructure projects, including the maintenance, renovation, and construction of real property facilities. Your responsibilities include:

Managing and monitoring construction projects from preconstruction surveys to as-built documentation.

Performing engineering analyses, reviewing design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.

Providing technical guidance on civil engineering issues and assisting with in-shop planning.

Coordinating maintenance, upgrades, and utility system operations across the installation.

Offering policy guidance and expert recommendations on design, construction materials, and infrastructure improvements.
-
Applying knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards to all projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Credentials: Professional Engineer (PE) license or successful completion of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exam preferred.

Specialized Experience: Varies by grade level (GS-11 through GS-15) and may include project design, construction oversight, cost estimation, multi-phase infrastructure improvements, and management of large-scale civil engineering projects.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Selective Service registration (for males).

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Maintenance of current certifications and possible security clearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction standards, and related engineering disciplines.

Ability to analyze engineering problems and recommend solutions.

Familiarity with federal, state, and local codes, as well as safety and environmental regulations.

Skill in providing guidance on construction, materials, and remediation projects.
