Key Duties

As a City Laborer reporting to the Facilities Maintenance unit, you will engage in essential hands-on work to support the maintenance of the city’s elevated infrastructure. Core responsibilities include:

Performing physically demanding tasks such as moving, lifting, and carrying materials of varying weight and size.
Assisting with general maintenance and repair operations using hand and power tools.
Operating motor vehicles when required to support work assignments.
Completing other duties as assigned under supervision to ensure efficient operations of city facilities.

Requirements

No formal education or prior experience is required, but candidates must meet medical and physical standards.
A valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License is necessary.
Must meet New York City residency requirements within 90 days of appointment, with certain exceptions for long-term City employees.
