Position Overview

The Cashier Assistant plays a key role in supporting cashiers and ensuring an efficient checkout experience for Costco members. This position is responsible for packing orders, assisting with merchandise handling, retrieving carts, and maintaining cleanliness in the front-end area, all while delivering excellent member service.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet members, assist with loading items onto conveyor belts, and provide information on promotions.

• Pack member orders into boxes and transfer items to separate carts or flatbeds.

• Assist members with loading purchases into vehicles when required.

• Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers to keep checkout lines moving efficiently.

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the register and front-end area, cleaning spills and hazards immediately.

• Retrieve carts and flatbeds from parking areas using proper safety procedures.

• Assist with department opening and closing duties (restocking, paperwork collection, register supplies, and area cleanup).

• Operate mechanical trash compactor and cardboard baler safely.

• Support cashiers during special promotions.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Experience: No prior experience required; training provided.

• Skills:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to safety and teamwork.

• Other:

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull items safely.

  • For Quebec locations, ability to communicate in French (oral and written) is required.
