The Role & Responsibilities

As Associate Professor in Digital Journalism, you will enrich the academic journey of future media professionals while reinforcing AAU’s mission through teaching, research, and service.

Teaching & Curriculum Development

  • Design and teach specialized courses such as data journalism, social media reporting, mobile journalism, and multimedia production, ensuring students master tools for converging image, audio, and text Abu Dhabi University.

  • Innovate pedagogical strategies that integrate hands-on digital production with journalistic ethics, aligning learning outcomes with real-world media demands.

Research & Scholarly Contributions

  • Produce peer-reviewed research in high-impact, Scopus-indexed journals, especially focusing on digital media trends in the MENA region Abu Dhabi University.

  • Lead applied research projects exploring areas such as media accessibility, audience engagement technologies, or AI-driven content creation—building on AAU’s tradition of impactful innovation Abu Dhabi University+1AAU Pharmacy.

Community Engagement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with local media outlets, NGOs, and cultural institutions to bridge academic inquiry with civic engagement—reflecting AAU’s model of community-infused research initiatives Abu Dhabi University.

  • Support university-wide sustainability and innovation initiatives by incorporating media storytelling in outreach and awareness campaigns.

Service & Institutional Development

  • Participate in curriculum review, program accreditation, and mentoring junior faculty as needed.

  • Contribute to academic quality enhancement, student advising, and institutional forums.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following standards:

Educational & Professional Credentials

  • Ph.D. in Digital Journalism, Digital Media, or a closely related field is required Abu Dhabi University.

  • Minimum of five years of university-level teaching proficiency, alongside five years working in digital journalism practice or new media production Abu Dhabi University.

Technical Proficiency & Research Orientation

  • Mastery of digital storytelling tools, multimedia editing software, and online content distribution platforms Abu Dhabi University.

  • A solid record of scholarly publications in internationally recognized journals.

Curriculum Innovation & Teaching Effectiveness

  • Capability to weave emerging topics—like mobile-first reporting or data visualization—into course content.

  • Proven student-centric pedagogical approach to teaching in both Arabic and English.
