We are looking to expand our team with inspirational Associate Lecturers (ALs) who have a passion for delivering high-quality learning experiences, along with substantial industry experience gained through teaching, relevant industry experience or both.

You will join our School of Computing and Digital Technologies and will contribute to our mission to transform the lives of our students.

The School is a large and vibrant school engaged in taught programs, research and innovation, and knowledge exchange. All our UG and PG programs are underpinned by project-based learning, which facilitates embedding industry experience across all the programs.

The School is in the top ten biggest computing departments in the UK, with more than 2,000 students and nearly 100 staff. Our size means we can cover a lot of ground. Topics including:
• Computer science
• Data analytics
• Computer games development
• AI and machine learning
• Cyber security and forensics
• Advanced computer networking
• Smart technologies.

Our School is located at the heart of Sheffield city centre, putting you right in the middle of this industry. Sheffield is home to a thriving digital and tech industry, employing over 21,000 people and generating billions of pounds.

Alongside our many connections with digital and tech businesses, we conduct our own work in industry. Steel Minions is our commercial games development studio, where students create and publish their own games on the PlayStation store. We are also home to the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime (CENTRIC), working with government, police, and private companies to increase our security.

We would expect you to have strong technical skills, an understanding of developments within the service sector and a solid understanding of current trends and impacts.

You may be currently working in a relevant industry and/or have spent time working in a relevant industry and may be interested in combining this with your enthusiasm and ability to pass on your knowledge and experience by creating and delivering high quality learning, teaching, and assessment.
