Key Duties

As an Assistant Branch Manager I, you will provide leadership and operational support in a small branch environment, assisting the Branch Manager and Retail Service Manager in all aspects of branch operations. Your role includes:

  • Supervising teller line activities, ensuring workflow efficiency and high-quality member service.

  • Acting as Branch Manager in their absence, including opening and closing the branch and overseeing daily operations.

  • Supporting branch staff through coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations, and corrective action guidance.

  • Monitoring branch compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Approving transactions exceeding standard limits and handling escalated member inquiries professionally.

  • Participating in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members.

  • Maintaining branch security and implementing business continuity plans in coordination with management.

  • Conducting audits, reviewing procedures, and recommending improvements to enhance operational efficiency and member satisfaction.

  • Supporting sales goals by assisting Relationship Specialists and Managers in cross-selling and referral initiatives.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of branch operations experience in a credit union or financial services environment.

  • At least 1 year of lead teller or supervisory experience, overseeing a team of 3 or more employees.

  • Strong knowledge of financial products, services, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in related business fields preferred.

  • NMLS registration required.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coach staff, and influence positive outcomes.
