Key Duties

The Area Manager will oversee and guide a team of Base Managers to ensure optimal sales and service performance across military commissary locations in Alaska. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring Base Managers to execute merchandising, promotions, and product placements effectively.

  • Monitoring distribution, shelf management, and inventory to achieve sales goals while minimizing gaps.

  • Coordinating with distributors and independent contractors, ensuring timely completion of tasks and accurate payments.

  • Implementing and maintaining retail systems, including EAGLE Eye and Retail IQ, to track performance metrics.

  • Managing client and store relationships to strengthen partnerships and support operational objectives.

  • Preparing reports and documenting procedures, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.

  • Supporting special projects and additional tasks assigned by senior leadership.

Requirements
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably managing teams in retail or CPG environments.

  • Strong knowledge of merchandising, planograms, product placement, and sales reporting.

  • Ability to work in challenging environments, including freezers and outdoor settings, and lift up to 100 lbs with assistance.

  • Must have or be able to obtain military base access; completion of DD Form 3150 required.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to travel for store resets, events, and other business needs, including occasional weekends.

  • Computer literacy, including smartphones and software applications for reporting and communication.

  • Drug-free workplace compliance; pre-employment drug screening required.
