Job Description

Alaska Marine Highway is hiring Able Seafarers to stand wheel and lookout watches, operate deck machinery, and assist with loading, unloading, and maintenance. Crew also perform sanitation, tie up vessels, handle cargo, and serve on emergency squads. Assignments vary on Southeast and Southwest routes, often working 8-12 hours with room and board provided. Applicants must be 18+, hold a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential, TWIC, and valid medical certificate, and pass physical and drug tests. Probationary hires may receive hiring incentives. Advancement opportunities exist for qualified employees through bid positions and onboard upgrades.
