The Role & Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be an integral member of the finance department, working closely with the Finance Manager and other stakeholders to ensure robust financial management and reporting. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with international accounting standards while supporting day-to-day financial operations.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with UK GAAP/IFRS.

  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results against budgets and forecasts.

  • Support management with insights to drive informed business decisions.

General Ledger & Month-End Close

  • Manage the general ledger and ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.

  • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure compliance with group accounting policies.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

  • Work closely with operational teams to provide financial input into planning and forecasting.

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and corporate policies.

  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Monitor internal controls and suggest improvements for financial efficiency and compliance.

Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, supply chain, and HR to provide financial guidance.

  • Present financial results to non-finance stakeholders in an accessible way.

Team Development

  • Mentor junior finance staff, sharing technical expertise and encouraging professional growth.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team.


Qualifications & Experience

The role requires a technically strong accountant with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, global environment.

  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or nearly qualified).

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting, ideally within a multinational or manufacturing environment.

  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of UK GAAP/IFRS and corporate finance principles.

  • Systems Expertise: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced MS Excel skills.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis capabilities with attention to detail.

  • Communication: Ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
