Key Duties

Indian River State College is seeking a skilled and motivated Adjunct English Instructor to teach in-person college-level English courses. The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering lessons, grading assignments, and supporting student learning. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and instructing course content while maintaining academic standards.

  • Evaluating student performance through quizzes, exams, assignments, and final grades.

  • Providing academic support and guidance to students, addressing questions and concerns.

  • Maintaining regular office hours and fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

  • Participating in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and departmental activities as required.

  • Incorporating technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.


Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in English from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with proven teaching effectiveness.

  • Ability to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and actively engage them in learning.

  • Proficiency in using computers and classroom technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in English from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Two to five years of post-secondary teaching experience.

  • Credentialing compliance with Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
