Introduction

Emerge Advocacy is seeking a part-time Kent Area Manager to oversee and develop our youth crisis support services across the Kent region. The Role & Responsibilities
As the Kent Area Manager, you will lead local Emerge Advocacy staff and volunteers, providing oversight, coordination, and vision for delivery of Emerge’s services across hospitals and communities in Kent. You will act as the key point of contact for regional stakeholders and guide teams to deliver high-quality, compassionate support for young people.
Leadership and Team Management

Supervise Local Teams
Provide guidance, pastoral support, and management for staff and volunteers in Kent, including supervision, one-to-ones, performance support, and spiritual encouragement where appropriate. -
Recruitment and Training
Oversee recruitment and onboarding of new advocates and volunteers, ensuring training and safeguarding requirements are met.
Programme Delivery and Development

Oversee Service Delivery
Ensure programmes in hospitals, schools, and follow-up settings are run safely, professionally, and with adherence to Emerge’s model of care. -
Quality Assurance
Monitor service effectiveness, review processes, gather feedback, and lead local improvements to maintain high standards.
Partnership and Representation

Stakeholder Relationships
Foster positive relationships with NHS Trusts, safeguarding leads, churches, schools, and local authorities in Kent to strengthen collaborations. -
Community Engagement
Promote Emerge’s presence across Kent, attend local meetings, represent the charity at events, and communicate impact to supporters and donors.
Administration and Strategy

Regional Planning and Reporting
Contribute to regional budgets, compile reports, track outcomes, and liaise with the national leadership team regarding targets, funding, and strategic growth. -
Safeguarding and Compliance
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring all staff and volunteers comply with policies and legal responsibilities for child protection.
Qualifications

Experience in Youth Work or Mental Health Support
Proven background supporting vulnerable young people or overseeing youth/community programmes. -
Leadership or Management Experience
Prior team management or supervisory experience with the ability to support, empower, and develop staff/volunteers. -
Strong Communication Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication for liaising with partners, writing reports, and representing Emerge professionally. -
Knowledge of Safeguarding and Risk Management
Understanding of safeguarding policies and ability to manage risk in frontline work. -
Organisational Skills
Able to manage part-time hours effectively, balance multiple projects, and maintain clear records. -
Alignment with Emerge’s Values
While you do not need to be of Christian faith, you should be comfortable working within and upholding the Christian ethos of the organisation.
